  • As a nurse on a surgical care unit, I assess and treat a wide variety of perioperative patients. This environment requires knowledge of each surgical procedure, as well as possible complications to be on alert for.
  • Medication administration, including PO and IV medications, frequent pain control, PCA pump management and antibiotics, as well as continuous enteral feeding.
  • Wound care following procedures including arthroplasty, mastectomy and a wounds associated with a variety of general surgical procedures.
  • IV start, foley catheter and nasogastric tube placement and maintenance are all skills at which I am proficient.
  • I am also utilized to provide patient care in other departments of the hospital, including the Progressive Care Unit and Emergency Department.
