DR. RIAZ AHAMED SYED

Dedicated and highly skilled Pediatric Neurologist with over four decades of extensive experience in clinical practice, medical education, and research. Graduated from medical school in India in 1978, followed by rigorous residency training in Pediatric Medicine and Neurology. Obtained postgraduate degrees in Pediatrics (MD) and Neurology (DM), followed by being awarded fellowship (FRCPCH) from Royal College - UK and (FRCPI) from Royal College - Ireland, subsequently establishing a distinguished career in Pediatric Neurology across multiple countries.

Proven expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of pediatric neurological conditions, with a particular focus on epilepsy, movement disorders, and neuro-developmental disorders. Proficient in performing electrophysiological studies, including EEG, nerve conduction studies, and evoked potential examinations, to aid accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Demonstrated leadership in establishing comprehensive Pediatric Neurology services, including epilepsy and movement disorder programs, at prestigious institutions in India, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. 1] Neurology Update conducted by Madras Medical College in 1986 where clinical lectures and CMEs were conducted in neurological disorders. I attended the above course as DM PG student.

2] International Update in Neuro Sciences sponsored by American Association of Physicians of India where lectures and clinical demonstrations as well electrophysiologial work shops were conducted- many Neurologists from Boston Medical School presented clinical papers-my participation was in all CMEs and EEG work shop in 1986.

3] Attended EEG interpretation course conducted by VHS hospital, Madras and subsequently certified for proficiency in EEG interpretation in childhood seizures in 1993.

4] “Neuromuscular disorders – clinical and molecular genetic study”- attended 15 days intensive course in Paris, France and got proficient in diagnosis of muscular disorders in children – certified by the Director of the above course.

5] ‘Botulinium toxin in spasticity’- an intensive practical course conducted in Manchester, UK was attended by me in 2000 where I was trained the methodology of Botox injections in childhood spastic/dystonic disorders [hands on]- awarded first prize in a quiz competition conducted by course director.

6] Attended pediatric advanced life support course in Royal Hospital, Muscat and certified (ALCS) 2001

7] Attended and certified in the basic life support (BLS) at KFAFH, Jeddah in 2010
