Carpe Artista is a non-profit organization that aims to bring all mediums of art to students of all ages. The summer camps I worked in were mostly tradional art in a small classroom setting, with 9-15 students ranging from middle to high school, many of them with special needs or learning disabilites.
As a makeup artist, I specialized in special effects and illusion art, but a large portion of the job was emotional regulation. Actors would be anxious or busy getting into character for the night, so I was expected to keep everybody who came in and out of my chair in high spirits and excited for the night. I collaborated with a team of 6 other artists and was expected to deliver consistent makeup looks every night according to a design given to me by the creativity department.
