Providing immediate medical care to patients experiencing critical or life-threatening medical emergencies, rapidly assess situations, prioritize care, and administer necessary treatments while collaborating with other healthcare providers.

• Triage cases in order of urgency and need.
• Work with ER staff to stabilize incoming patients.
• Perform tracheotomies and intubations.
• Give stitches and sutures.
• Start intravenous lines (IVs).

Providing ultrasound guided PICC Line, Midline and Central Line placement for our patients, responsible for administering substances intravenously in peripheral veins, typically in the patient's arm.

At my current role with EPICC Vascular, we work with our Veterans, who are currently battling cancer and high risk infections.

As a PICC Nurse, some of my duties and responsibilities include:

• Provide patient consultations for Vascular Access Device appropriateness using diagnosis, intravenous plan of therapy, prognosis, and medical/surgical history.
• Set up and perform vascular access procedures as ordered in accordance with skill set. Appropriately trained and credentialed clinicians may set up and perform basic (PICC, Midline, peripheral IV) insertion, or when indicated and approved by MD, perform advanced (IJ, Axillary, Femoral line) insertion.
• Understand and use all required infection prevention measures, including hand washing, PPE, and maximal sterile field for all insertions.
• Use ultrasound guidance for all MST insertions and difficult to visualize IV access.
• Understand and perform complete documentation, charting, and full report to appropriately licensed person caring for patient post insertion.
• Ensure compliance with all facility policies and procedures regarding medical practice, cleanliness, and COVID-19 spread control.
