- This internship has helped me correlate microstructural features and mechanical properties. Gained a thorough understanding of the importance of metallography and material characterization techniques in evaluating and optimizing the mechanical properties of advanced materials.
- Observed and quantified anisotropic microstructural variations based on build direction in additively manufactured components, correlating grain orientation to directional mechanical behavior.
- I understood the principles of different heat treatments and worked on heat treatment of additive manufactured Al and Ni based superalloys, and how optimizing heat treatment processes like recrystallization annealing and ageing would give different microstructures.
- Developed and implemented a standardized database for metallographic images and mechanical test results, improving data retrieval efficiency and ensuring traceability across project experiments.
