Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced rural emergency department. Assess, prioritize, and manage patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions while collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform rapid patient assessments, triage, and ongoing monitoring of adult and pediatric emergency patients.
• Administer medications, treatments, blood products, and emergency interventions according to physician orders and established protocols.
• Respond to medical emergencies, including trauma, cardiac events, stroke, sepsis, respiratory emergencies, and pediatric critical care situations.
• Coordinate patient care, admissions, transfers, and discharges while maintaining accurate and thorough documentation.
• Serve as a patient and family advocate by providing education, emotional support, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with physicians, EMS, respiratory therapy, laboratory, radiology, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
• Assist in maintaining departmental readiness for emergency preparedness, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
• Contribute to the hospital’s Chest Pain Accreditation initiatives by supporting protocol implementation, quality improvement efforts, and compliance with accreditation standards.
• Serve as a pediatric resource within the emergency department by assisting with pediatric readiness, equipment and supply management, staff education, and implementation of pediatric best practices.
• Mentor new nurses and support teamwork to promote a culture of patient safety, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement.
