  • Collect blood samples from pediatric to geriatric patients. Orders and maintains inventory of phlebotomy collection supplies, and other laboratory supplies.
  • Process all necessary paperwork in the LIS(Cerner) for Laboratory testing.
  • Perform POC testing using the following analyzers: Abbot ID Now, Cobas Liat, BD Veritor, Clinitek Status+, HemoCue Hb 801, Accu-Chek Inform II, and LeadCare II. Other POC testing performed using specific kit tests. Testing includes the following: Covid, Flu A/B, Strep A, RSV, UA, Urine Microalbumin, Hgb, Lead, UDS, GLU, Occult Blood, and Urine HCG.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, ensuring proper functioning and compliance with laboratory standards.
  • Follow safety protocols and precautions for safe and hazard-free work environment.
  • Train and mentor junior staff, including newly hired, on laboratory procedures, promoting best practices in testing techniques.
  • Assist Laboratory Manager in orientation, six month, and annual competencies of all laboratory staff including lab manager, acts as Technical Consultant for laboratory.
  • Certified in DOT UDS collections and Breath Alcohol testing. Recertification obtained in December 2025. Perform Non DOT and DOT UDS collections and Breath Alcohol testing as needed for pre-employment, post accident, reasonable suspension, etc.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace and perform routine cleaning tasks as required.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines, maintain high standards of quality assurance in all testing processes.
  • Participate in continuing education programs to stay current with industry advancements and maintain professional certification requirements.
  • Note : Prior to late 2020, stat and routine laboratory testing was performed in house and not sent to a reference laboratory. Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, and some basic serology, plus most of the above mentioned POC testing, was performed in house daily.
