Work History

Senior Mgr. Central Design Organization

TVA
01.2023 - Current
  • I accepted the position as Snr. Mgr. Central Design Organization (CDO) in December of 2022. This role increased the number of individuals I manage to approximately 45 including 5 Mgrs., 2 Program Mgrs. and an assistant. This position includes ownership of ~42 Procedures and Design Specifications/Criteria. While in this role I have been able to improve the performance of CDO by empowering my leadership team and providing the oversight to ensure they stay on target. The team has successfully meet Outage Milestones and provided the sites with in-house design expertise to deliver fleet common Engineering Change Packages, aid in proactive obsolescence projects, and provide calculation support to the sites ensuring low-cost and timely delivered design products as an alternative supplement to TVA’s Engineering of Choice contractors.
  • Additional fleet initiatives under my responsibility, include the full establishment of a fleet wide Parts Quality Initiative (PQI) program, the qualification and full establishment of the Digital Design Group, leading the Nuclear Fleet Recorder Initiative and the Main Control Room Modernization effort, implementing new department metrics and driving increased Engineer of Choice (EOC) performance monitoring effort inclusive of Program Mgrs. and semi-annual meetings with the engineering Executive Team.

Senior Mgr. Regulatory Programs Engineer

TVA
01.2022 - 01.2023
  • I took over as the Snr. Mgr. Regulatory Programs Engineering in May of 2022. I was instrumental in the execution of a partial organizational restructure that included establishing the Central Design Organization to be better suited in supporting Fleet Center Design needs, strategic planning and structuring the Design Regulatory Programs group to drive improved individual programmatic program capabilities for the fleet. In addition, I successfully performed the financial analytics supporting these changes allowing a headcount increase while maintaining the budget and communicated the impacts to Executive and Engineering Leadership.

Corporate Electrical Engineer Manager

TVA
01.2021 - 01.2022
  • I accepted the position as CDO Electrical Engineering Manager to bring structure and organization to the group. Initial review of the group identified several areas for improvement. The group did not have a functioning product schedule, nor did they have a forum to communicate with their customer (Projects), in addition there were personality conflicts between the mechanical and electrical design organization. Personality conflicts were promptly addressed on a one-on-one basis by setting the standard and expectation of acceptable behavior and clear communication that nothing less would be acceptable. The schedule challenge was addressed by pulling the Task engineers in mechanical and electrical and having the develop or provide their schedule they were working too. After accumulating this a comprehensive schedule was developed using the format which would be available to the entire group to use. This ensured resource alignment and mechanism to provide the customer a clear understanding of the deliverable.

Corporate Nuclear Sites Procurement Engineer Manager

TVA
01.2017 - 01.2021
  • I accepted the position as Nuclear Sites Procurement Engineering Manager to develop and roll out the Procurement Engineering Centralization format and improve performance at Browns Ferry, Sequoyah, and Watts Bar. My specific goals for the sites were to improve site to site communication and alignment, decrease unmerited overtime, improve outage, and work week alignment. To make this scale of improvements required both programmatic and cultural changes by the sites and staff. The outage PEG overtime budgets have reduced by two thirds, outage and work week milestones are closely monitored and have shown significant improvements for materials that have been loaded in accordance with procedural requirements, and the PEG site teams lean on each other for assistance and are working as a cohesive group rather than three individual organizations. Recent Initiatives include Fleet Inventory Initiative, 10CFR50.69 steering committee and Program implementation, Standard Item Equivalency process.

Watts Bar Nuclear Plant Procurement Engineer Manager

TVA
01.2013 - 01.2017
  • I accepted the position as Procurement Engineering Manager effectively to rebuild and streamline the procurement process. Upon my arrival there was a backlog of 1666 items. In addition, PEG was understaffed per the HR guidelines. While remaining understaffed the backlog was reduced to 134 items and the impact on work week performance has significantly reduced. Worked closely with Corporate to revise the PEG Qualification Card to allow newly hired employees to become productive by staging the Qualification card rather than having one all encompassing Qualification card.

Pre-Operational Start Up Engineer/Systems Engineer

TVA
01.2007 - 01.2012
  • Assisted with the flow study for a viable flow model on Raw Cooling Water, worked to verify and establish N5 packages for Unit 2, developed boundary drawings to be used by construction to develop their work schedule for meeting turnover deadlines, developed flush plans for system turnover, ran the ERCW (Essential Raw Cooling Water) flushes while working Refueling Outage 09 with Unit 1 NSSS group. Developed and performed Pre-Operational Test for ERCW flow balance. Co Lead on HIT (High Impact Team) team for refueling outage U1R10. Developed Pre-Operational Test for RCW Bypass Strainer. Developed and performed Cleanliness plans for Essential Raw Cooling Water and Raw Cooling Water. Worked as WBN Unit 1 ERCW System Engineer.

  • Planned and developed new surveying company evolving the model initially developed while at Coast 2 Coast. Developed workflow charts, streamlined production, evaluated financial records. Built national network of surveyors to quickly provide customers with required information to aid in re-image and merger programs as they relate to sign packages.
