  • Assist the MD and RN in care of emergent and non-emergent patients
  • Job responsibilities include performing electrocardiograms, Intravenous therapy, blood draws, splinting, cleansing wounds, basic assessments, administering oxygen therapy if needed, CPR, foley catheter insertion and transportation of patients to evaluate or upon admission
  • I currently help as needed in one of our six emergency departments
  • I was a member of the Nurse Unit Practice Council for the last 8 years of my career in the emergency department
  • This is a group of nurses and technicians that perform evidence-based practice studies and are the eyes and ears for the emergency department
  • I was also a member of the patient experience board
  • Our goal is increasing patient satisfaction
  • We did see an increase the year I was a member in August of 2020
  • I also started the outreach program, which I and another employee went to the local fire and police stations to build our relationships with our responding law enforcement, fire, and EMS services
