I was advised to allow an A.I. to create the summary for resume but I just don’t think a computer can accurately describe me and my personal work history into one short summary. If you want the truth about myself, the jobs I’ve maintained, the skills I’ve mastered along the way, and the the method in which I conduct myself within a work environment, I think the best and only person qualified to summarize all of that for you…is me. I started out in the working world as a nobody and that’s probably still my overall rank but no matter what job I was given, I did whatever it took to learn all I could to do my job to the absolute best of my ability, and I can sincerely say that I am proud of the work ethic I’ve developed. I managed to build my own business out of nothing and for a short while, it excelled. Unfortunately, when COVID-19 introduced itself to the world, my business wasn’t able to stay afloat. There were many unforeseen obstacles and problems that we just didn’t have the means to overcome so the only option was to shut our doors but we did so with our heads held high, knowing that it wasn’t because we failed…it was just during a time in which the world didn’t want anyone to succeed. Otherwise I would still be going through the motions of the day to day life within my company’s walls. I can’t help but look at it like, perhaps this had to happen, to allow a new and better opportunity to present itself to me. After all, when one door closes, another open and maybe, just maybe I was unable to even see that second door until the previous door was fully closed. I mean, it’s really hard to climb your highest mountain if you keep your feet safely planted on the ground. So there you have it. I’ve explained my job history, education background, and overall skill set. I wanted the summary section to be different. I wanted this to be a summary of me as a person instead of me as a worker. Anyone who’s even made it as far as reading this summary, I think it’s safe to say that you’ve probably already formed an opinion one way or another. The only other thing I would like to add is, “Thank you.” I realize this probably isn’t the “acceptable” or “usual” version of what kind of resume summary is expected but I’m far from your typical applicant. The question you need to ask yourself is this, “Do you wanna be the typical type of employer or do you wanna see how rewarding it can be to pick your feet up off the ground and actually climb? If you take a chance on me, I will always do everything within my power to never let you fall.
I would like to take a moment to also note that this was transcribing for a long haul, trucking company. I was their only records keeper/transcriptionist. I kept track of any meetings they wanted a transcribed record of, both in person and any audio files that needed a written record for. It wasn’t a super fancy job but it taught me what I needed to know about the transcribing world. To sum it all up, if it involved any kind of typing, records keeping, office work, or office organization, then my job with Richard L. Selby Transport covered it.
