Work History

EI&C in Silanes

Wacker
Charleston
01.2015 - Current
  • I am presently working as an EI&C in Silanes, primarily in Conversion and HCL Recovery. These areas are made up of transformers, reactors, compressors and refrigeration units used throughout the processes. I am tasked with the troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs for all controls, analytics, and electrical equipment. I previously spent most of my time assigned to Distillation and Tank farm where I troubleshoot, setup, and installed various pump systems and drives.
  • While working here I have taken part in everything from commissioning equipment during construction to backup Supervisor for Silanes. As an EI&C, I not only troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and equipment but also assist in scheduling/planning of much of my own work load. I do this by ensuring parts are ordered, picked up, in hand and that the operation can support the work. When planning the jobs, I assure safety is the biggest priority by checking over permits, walking down, assuring all hazards are listed and addresses I am very active in keeping up with open work orders within Con/Rec.
  • One of my most important tasks is assuring that our SIS test throughout Silanes is performed in an accurate, safe and timely manner. I drive all tests at this time but I also am able to conduct field portions. I print out the paperwork needed, check that packets for each area are correct. I also make contact and reserve lifts if required along with any other test equipment that is required. I believe it is also essential to be aware of all jobs that may create hazards while I am working in areas.

Control Equipment Craftsman - Electrical

Invista

  • I was working as a shift electrician at a polymer/chemical company which is a subsidiary of Koch Industries. My role as a shift electrician consists of troubleshooting all equipment and machinery across the entire facility which is made up of salt and solutions, control room, casting, flake transporting system, silos and holding areas, extruding and spinning dept, power house, and a recycling area called remelt. I am called to troubleshoot and determine if it is electrical or mechanical. I repair electrical issues, small mechanical issues, and assist the mechanic with repairs if needed. Since being hired at Invista my role has changed due to staffing. I began as a robotics, packing and spinning electrician. I presently troubleshoot, repair, calibrate and install various types of equipment including Foxboro DCS controls, Allen Bradley PLC5’s, Slick 500, multiple types of drives, level probe, transmitters, pressure bulbs, automatic valves, sensors, thermocouples, and all other electrically controlled equipment. I use excel and SAP system daily for inventory, planning, scheduling and work orders conformation. We do much of our OSHA required training through a Corporate online controlled system and are required to follow a set of MBM principles which allows us to be mostly self-managed. I am currently a member of the Emergency Response Team which acts as first responders and firefighting team.
