Co-author for a Retrospective Cohort Study

The University of Tennessee Medical Center, Memphis
11.2024 - 05.2025

Title: Estimating Overall Survival Among Patients Diagnosed with HCC: A Retrospective Study

1) Aim:To assess overall survival outcomes in veterans diagnosed with HCC, examining the impact of screening, treatment

type, and demographic and behavioral factors.

2) Results: Higher BMI was associated with lower mortality risk (HR=0.962, p=0.010).No survival differences by

race/rurality. Screened and transplant patients had better survival

3) By conducting detailed chart reviews in CPRS and analyzing survival outcomes, I strengthened my skills in clinical data

interpretation and identifying prognostic factors. This experience equips me to contribute to data-driven, evidence-based

oncology care in fellowship and future academic practice.

Co-Author for Retrospective Cohort Study

The University of Tennessee Medical Center, Memphis
01.2025 - 04.2025
  • The goal of the study is to ultimately decide if there is value in screening for pancreatic cancer in certain populations by collecting specific data points, such as demographic information, including age, ethnicity, and gender; risk factors, such as family history and smoking; how the patient was diagnosed; treatment; specific points regarding pathology; endoscopic evaluations; and other chemotherapy-related questions.
  • My role: I have actively coordinated my hemonc fellow, Dr. Jonathan, and GI fellow, Dr. Whitwell, and have collected patients' data.
  • We have completed data collection, and now we will analyze the data and write an article.
