  • Maintain data and voice network infrastructure and supervise the technical staff responsible for these services. This position manages, monitors, secures and optimize performance of the wired and wireless network and develop plans to ensure optimal performance and stability of the network.
  • Lead / Supervise the network staff by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance.
  • Work with system administrators, vendors and technicians to ensure existing and planned facilities in all campus locations are appropriately configured; ensure that all Internet connections, firewalls and authentication systems are appropriately configured.
  • Manage the TCP/IP addresses for the institution’s voice, data and video network; assisting in resolution of any related problems. Communicate with Director, Network and Technical Services regarding system availability and updates; ensure appropriate staff notification of all outages, planned or otherwise. Provide service suggestions and notice to all staff and uses of events affecting Information Technology.
  • Develop, document and maintain software for network reliability, security, and performance. Maintain network topology documentation.
  • Key Accomplishments: Installed and maintained ISDN network for remote campuses and remote events.
  • Designed, installed and maintained PSTCC’s first Wi-Fi network.
  • Designed, installed and maintained PSTCC’s first Cisco PIX firewall. Providing internal security and private addressing for internal host.
  • Designed, installed and maintained PSTCC’s first layer 3 switches for the network core. Providing layer three VLANS for the network increasing performance and security.
  • Supervised the migration from the Cisco/Blue Socket Wi-Fi network to an Aruba Wi-Fi network. Increasing security and network flexibility.
  • Designed and installed a routed network for all remote campuses.
  • Designed and managed the installation of the data center rated switched network using Cisco Nexus switches.
  • Planned and supervised the installation of the new Blount Campus Network.
  • Designed and supervised the installation the campus fiber optic upgrade from multimode fiber to single mode fiber. Increasing the campus backbone to 10Gig.
  • Planned and installed the campus wide upgrade of all edge switches from 10/100MB switches to 10/100/1000MB switches with power over ethernet.
  • Planned and supervised the installation of the Magnolia Campus network.
  • Planned and supervised the migration from the analog PBX phone system to the Cisco Voice over IP system including the call centers and all campuses.
