On-going Research Project, Tennessee Tech University, The research project I am currently working on falls between the study of organic and inorganic chemistry. Our main focus is developing a soft Lewis base ligand that will separate actinides from lanthanides within spent nuclear fuel. With the hope that, one day we will be able to use nuclear fuel as a main energy source. This separation will allow us to recycle actinides so they can be used again throughout the nuclear cycle. My research advisor is Dr. Jesse D. Carrick.
