My name is Timothy C. Coss, and I'm a 26 year-old State Trooper from West Tennessee. I have 4 years of law enforcement experience with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, approaching 5 years total in June of 2026. Additionally, I've achieved an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Dyersburg State Community College while working full-time at Komatsu America Corp. I'm a current student at Liberty University and will have achieved my Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice: Homeland Security following the conclusion of the Fall 2026 Semester. Being a full-time college student, while managing the responsibilities the State of Tennessee has granted me, highlights my ability to multitask and delegate under stress. As a trooper, I'm responsible for conducting criminal investigations and being proactive in creating my own cases to recommend for prosecution. All of the prior information highlights, what I believe, to be my greatest strength - my work ethic and dependability. My work ethic within the Tennessee Highway Patrol has granted me several opportunities to improve myself, my ability to serve the public, and to be a resource for my peers. As a non-senior trooper, I've applied for and been granted more voluntary trainings and certifications than the majority of my co-workers who have served for 10+ years. I was granted the role of Field Training Officer (FTO) after only 2 years of service. I'm certified as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), RADAR Instructor, Less Lethal Munitions Grenadier, Advanced Crash Investigator, and more.
