Summary

My name is Torriq Kajuan Williams, and I grew up in the southern part of Memphis, Tennessee. I enjoy working on teams for causes and goals because it is always for something bigger than me. I have participated in several extracurricular activities that have helped me in academia and in workspace.

Summer Intern

  • This past summer I spent my July interning at a ministry center in North Memphis. There, I worked with a team of other college students and the ministry’s staff to lead church groups of varying ages from other states in projects and community outreach of different sites. Some of our responsibilities were:

1. Lead the groups by ethical example

2. Motivate the weekly team by giving a devotional during the morning meeting

3. Give guidance and direction during site projects (community food pantry pass-out, ministry renovations, neighborhood yard work, church and partnered events)

4. Have intentional relationships with the volunteers and those we were providing for or doing ministry with

5. Report the daily summary, updates, and any issues to staff; attend summer intern meetings

Social Media Ambassador

  • Last summer, I went to Boston, Massachusetts, for a mission trip with this association called GenSend; they provide college students the chance to see how it is to live in different cities throughout the states and help local churches. Social media ambassadors help with GenSend Boston directly through the communication team of about sixteen to twenty students out of ninety-nine students who were also there for the summer program. The tasks that we were given or created are as follows:

1. Managing social media posts

2. Taking photographs throughout the city

3. Facilitating the church team vlogs

4. Interviewing other participants and church members

5. Doing a podcast of 10 episodes

6. Updating the GenSend Boston website

7. Helping the GenSend director with out-of-state presentation ideas

  • I was accepted for a part-time seasonal job to help manage and supervise events. While I worked many ballroom events on my own, we organized or helped with outdoor functions. What the job entailed:

1. Making sure caterers, the delivery, or chefs are settled and passing out food

2. Answering client questions, and helping problems be resolved Setting up and tearing down for events

3. Giving directions for marathons / races or for park events
