  • As a Misdemeanor Probation Officer I provide supervision including services to our clients who are sentenced by the General Local Sessions and Criminal Courts for vast misdemeanor offenses
  • I have a caseload of three hundred clients a month
  • After their Intake, they come to see me monthly
  • I’ve trained and learned many skills to work with people who are on Probation
  • On Tuesday I am in General Sessions Court all day from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, sometimes longer as it depends on the docket
  • I am in charge of putting the defendants on Probation according to the sentence the Judge has requested for them
  • Also, I assist defendants with other needs outside of the scope for example making phone calls to other resource agencies when they have requested additional help
  • I also am in charge of Sessions Room # 1 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, after I work and perform duties in Sessions Court Room 1 and Sessions Room 2 where I also am in control of the arraignments, and go back to Sessions Room 1
  • I help translate for the defendants and their families the Spanish
  • During the week at the office, I type up Warrants for (VOPs), when a defendant fails to report to his/her probation-scheduled appointment

  • With the Department of Children’s Services (DCS) in Carter Co., I was involved with Children’s Protective Services (CPS) under the Supervision of Bryon Smith (TL) and also included Family Support Services (FSS), Child and Family Team Meetings (CFTM), Children Protective Investigation Team (CPIT), Family Service Worker (FSW), and Juvenile Justice (JJ) to mention a few
  • I had a very intensive internship and walked away with knowledge not taught in textbooks
  • I have assisted with many family home visits and putting services in place for families and their children, for example, referrals with Youth Villages, Steppingstone Youth Treatment, Frontier Health, Turning Point, Woodridge, Charlotte Taylor, and Victory
